It’s ‘Team First’ With PIR Sponsor, Ticket Galaxy, For Race Trophy Design

It is well-known that in NASCAR, being the first to the checkered flag takes a team effort. No race winner hoists the trophy without the hours of planning and strategizing that go in beforehand.

That same team emphasis permeates into the NASCAR XFINITY Series title sponsor, Ticket Galaxy. In an initiative to find that special trophy design, Ticket Galaxy offered a friendly competition to their employees. Whoever drew the best trophy illustration will receive a free trip out to Phoenix Raceway for the Nov. 12 NASCAR XFINITY Series race. The trip’s package included not only access to the race, but VIP pace car rides and the ever-so-important office bragging rights.

“Ticket Galaxy values the input from our employees, as we wanted to give them a chance to be involved in some capacity,” Ticket Galaxy President Steve Kobelski noted. “A few members of our leadership team came up with the idea to hold the contest."

The employees answered the call. Kobelski, Vice President of Event Investment Michael Garvie, and Director of Marketing Kyle Osolin had the challenging task of choosing the final three designs. With a total of 25 submissions to choose from, the judges at Ticket Galaxy felt the type of pressure seemingly comparable to that of racers fighting for position on the final lap.

The suspense and pressure of the final decision fell on the shoulders of every Ticket Galaxy team member for the final vote. But just like winning teams do, Ticket Galaxy made the tough decisions.

Kobelski adds, “The design needed to incorporate a fun aspect of car racing and track elements while containing branding elements from Ticket Galaxy. We wanted the winning trophy to be unique and something exciting for the winning driver to have.”

Once the winning outline was chosen, Phoenix Raceway and the graphic design team brought the trophy to life. In fact, two of the trophies were created; one for the race winner and one for the Ticket Galaxy offices to own with pride.

“The competition boosted moral internally and created a lot of interest on each design. During internal meetings, we would often see team members sketching designs and having fun with the contest.”

Ticket Galaxy believes that the success of this initiative may just spark more creative opportunities like this one going forward.

Not only is this Ticket Galaxy’s first time trying their hand at trophy creation, but it is their first year headlining a NASCAR race, with the Ticket Galaxy 200 at PIR. Along with the entitlement announcement, Ticket Galaxy was named the official secondary market ticket provider of Phoenix Raceway. Ticket Galaxy will also be the title sponsor for next year’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race in the fall of 2017.
